The newest arrival is the 2022 Subaru Outback, and now that our dealers have gotten the opportunity to get behind the wheel, we can confidently say that it has upgrades in all the right places, making it more than worth the investment for active, outdoorsy drivers and everyday commuters alike. Here is what’s new.
New Wilderness Trim
Though all trims of the Subaru Outback are focused on providing an excellent off-road experience, the new Wilderness trim takes it to new heights. It boasts extra ground clearance, an upgraded suspension, Yokohama all-terrain tires, and a host of styling enhancements to showcase its brawny exterior. It also comes standard with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a roof rack capable of supporting up to 700 lb, and water-repellent interior upholstery.
Powertrain and Performance
There are two different available powertrains in the 2022 Subaru Outback, depending on which trim that you choose. The first new Subaru engine is the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that cranks out 182 horsepower. Drivers can also upgrade to a 260-horsepower turbocharged 2.4-liter unit. Of course, all versions of the new Subaru Outback come with standard all-wheel drive.
