As you likely have discovered by now, taking out a Subaru lease has many advantages over buying. But if you’re reaching the end of your lease contract, you have likely wondered what comes next. Luckily, our friendly dealers here at Heritage Subaru Owings Mills make ending a lease easy.
Here are your options for when your lease comes to an end.
What Happens at the End of a Lease?
At the end of a lease contract, you essentially have three different options of what to do with your Subaru car.
Trading it in for a New Lease
Once your lease is up, you can return to our Owings Mills Subaru dealership and sign a new lease for a new model. When you choose this route, you will be required to pay a disposition fee, which is a flat fee you agreed to pay at the end of a lease when you originally signed the contract. However, this fee can be negotiated.
Returning and Walking Away
If you would rather simply return the leased model and walk away without purchasing or leasing a new car from us, that is the second option. In this case, you will be required to pay the disposition fee in full, as well as fees for excessive wear and tear and for exceeding the mileage limit.
Buying the Leased Vehicle
Your third option is to purchase the car that you have been leasing. This is the appealing choice for drivers who cannot bear the thought of getting rid of their leased car or drivers who have exceeded the mileage limits or damaged the vehicle.
