With the release of the 2024 Subaru Solterra, the bar has been raised still further for functional electric SUVs by this well-known automaker. But how does the new Subaru Solterra compare to other models such as the 2024 Subaru Forester? Courtesy of Heritage Subaru of Owings Mills, here are some of the key differences between these two exceptional vehicles.

Fuel and Performance

One of the most important differences between the 2024 Subaru Solterra and the Subaru Forester is its fuel type. The former is an all-electric SUV featuring a StarDrive® zero-emissions drivetrain, while the latter houses a cutting-edge if more conventional BOXER® four-cylinder gas-powered engine.

Both vehicles offer superior fuel efficiency compared to rival SUVs, although it’s hard to argue with the 94 city/114 highway MPGe of the Premium trim of the Subaru Solterra. The electric SUV also delivers 215 horsepower and 249 lb-ft of torque, both higher than the Subaru Forester’s 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft.

Interior Space

The 2024 Subaru Solterra offers a refined, comfortable interior that’s ideal for long road trips or off-road adventures, with 95.7 cubic feet of passenger volume in Premium and Limited trims and a maximum cargo capacity of 63.5 cubic feet. On the other hand, the Subaru Forester provides a bit more room than its electric counterpart, featuring up to 111.6 cubic feet for passengers and 74.2 cubic feet of cargo space.
